We are still basking in the glow of our Neo-Soul Sunday in celebration of our Fifth Anniversary
this past January 27, 2013, at the Unity Center of New York City.
Thanks to you, it was a huge success. 

 Drake Colley and the Drake Colley Quartet blessed us with some amazing music,
“Music of the Spirit” is what Drake called it,
and we felt the Spirit moving as us. 

Charles Carrington was on piano.     Gene Torres was on Electric Bass.   Gary Smith was on drums.     Drake was on tenor saxophone.

 

Psalmist Sonya Johnson blew the roof off the house with her music.
Sonya opens sometimes for Yolanda Adams.

She is also an attorney, who sang at the first Spiritmuv gathering in 2007. 

Jacqueline Anscombe, a Spiritmuv member, ignited our hearts
with her harmony, beauty and talent.

To say she is a triple threat would be an understatement.
She is that and more.

 We also had a surprise hymn from Spiritmuv regular Pastor Jacki Gilchrist
from the Church Outside the Box in Stamford, Connecticut
who is always powerful, penetrating, precise, and on point. 

Neo-Soul is the greater thing that pushes us outside of the boxes of religion
because Spirit has never wanted them to contain us.

We are all souls rising as one, all rhythms beating as one,
all disconnections now connected,

all harmony flowing past doubt.

We are one with the Father-Mother-
Everything-Almighty God—

One with the Holy Ghost,
one with the Son-Daughter-Christ.

We are one with the drums
amazing beats giving birth to neo-souls
tapping new rhythms without limitations.

We are one with piano keys popping,

twisting and molding, caressing and creating, shaping and leading.

We are one with the saxophone
shifting, sighing, and realizing

we are here – awesome and provocative
’cause no one else can do it like we do it.

We are one with the bass digging deep in defiance of all odds,

all appearances, all doubt, saying no matter what someone else thinks:

our prayers are answered before we even ask.

It is done.

It is done, it is done, it is done.

It is done!

The program taught Ten Neo-Soul Revelations.

 

Prayer Warrior Raquiba LaBrie lifted up the First Neo-Soul Revelation that “we are one with Spirit.”  When we know that we are one with Spirit, we don’t worry about the yesterdays or lose sleep over tomorrows, we vibrate in the stream of dynamic energy and powerful prayers – loving and lifting without limitation.  We are healed by a breakthrough through a song that reminds us, revitalizes us, and restores us so that we don’t settle for less.

 

 Johar Snella lifted up the Second Neo-Soul Revelation that “we have the Kingdom of God within us.”  He recited the Spiritmuv Prayer – that he created.  As Jesus said, the Kingdom of God is neither here nor there, it is within us (Luke 17:21).

Elizabeth Walker lifted up the third Neo-Soul Revelation – that “the Father is within us.”  Jesus also said, I am in the Father and you are in me, and I am in you (John 14:20).

Jacqueline Anscombe lifted up the fourth Neo-Soul Revelation – that you don’t need to seek joy, barter for joy, buy joy, or depend on joy from someone else – because “we have the gift of joy.”
She sang that song!

Rev. Wendy Sealey lifted up the Fifth Neo-Soul Revelation – that “we all have favor” – by helping us honor Raquiba LaBrie with the 2013 Mary Award as a Woman of Vision and Power. 

Raquiba is the only person who attended the very first Spiritmuv service
and stayed the course for 5 years. 

She prayed at the first circle and at the second circle

and has grown to be a powerful disciple of the Spirit. 

Because she has grown, so has Spiritmuv.

The Sixth Neo-Soul Revelation – that “we all have grace” – was lifted up by Rhonda Freeman, LaTeesha Vines and Joyce Addae when they helped Spiritmuv award Elizabeth Walker with the 2013 Esther Award as a Woman of Grace and Glory. 

Ephesians 2:8-9 says for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 

No one better exhibits grace than Liz Walker.  Liz is the calm in the storm;
someone who exudes a beauty of grace and the glory of greatness. 

Maurice Brown and Lorraine Dowd-Snella helped lift up the Seventh Neo-Soul Revelation
– that “we have the power to envision.”

No one demonstrates vision better than our deacon Najah Brown,
who has served Spiritmuv for four years,

and our junior deacon Johar Snella,
who created the Spiritmuv Prayer at last Summer’s Spiritual Boot Camp. 

They both received the 2013 Award for Youth of Vision, Discipline and Success. 

Lorraine Dowd-Snella, Johar’s mother, also received the 2013 Award for Woman of Vision, Discipline and Success for being visionary for Spiritmuv

and always coming up with new ideas, strategies and goals that help the church move forward.

Daniel Nyante, Caryl Lucas and Mari Rodriguez
lifted up the Eighth Neo-Soul Revelation – that “we have the wisdom of the universe.” 

In Ephesians 1:17, Paul said “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” 

No one better demonstrates the Spirit of Wisdom than Marlon Cromwell. 

 Spiritmuv’s success is attributable to him. 

Daniel, Caryl and Mari presented him with
Spiritmuv’s 2013 Paul Award for Man of Wisdom and Success.

The Ninth Neo-Soul Revelation was lifted up by Judi Ventress: “we have the power to decree.”

 In John 1:1, it says in the beginning was the Word

and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  We all have the power of the word.  Judi shared the Spiritmuv Affirmation of the Week.

The Tenth Neo-Soul Revelation was that
“we have the gift of power,
which is always giving back to itself.”
