FINDING THE POWER OF LOVE – Part 5

In her profound book BRAIDING SWEETGRASS, Robin Wall Kimmerer teaches us that “[s]trawberries first shaped [her] view of a world full of gifts simply scattered at your feet. A gift comes to you through no action of your own, free, having moved toward you without your beckoning. It is not a reward; you cannot earn it, or call it to you, or even deserve it. And yet it appears. Your only role is to be open-eyed and present.” Such is the gift of miracles. Here, Rev. Cecilia Loving continues to guide us as the Spiritmuv Prayer Circle moves through A Course in Miracles, through the sacredness of all that we are, standing on the shoulders of all our relations.

“If one tree fruits, they all fruit—there are no soloists. Not one tree in a grove, but the whole grove; not one grove in the forest, but every grove; all across the county and all across the state. The trees act not as individuals, but somehow as a collective. Exactly how they do this, we don’t yet know.  But what we see is the power of unity. What happens to one happens to us all. We can starve together or feast together. All flourishing is mutual.”

Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer

“In our Creation stories the origin of strawberries is important. Skywoman’s beautiful daughter, whom she carried in her womb from Skyworld, grew on the good green earth, loving and loved by all the other beings. But tragedy befell her when she died giving birth . . . Heartbroken, Skywoman buried her beloved daughter in the earth. Her final gifts, our most revered plants, grew from her body. The strawberry arose from her heart.”
